History

Mission Enterprises Ltd was established in 1960 but our roots go back to the desire of Mr Eugene Veith (1915-2010) to support Christian ministries in their work locally and around the world. Eugene did this through a highly successful delivery business first set up in 1946.

Veith Transport became a not-for-profit business supporting missions. In 1986 the transport business was sold to Mayne Nicholas and the funds invested to continue to support missionary endeavours.

In 1978 Ken Craig, a SIM missionary returned to Australia and joined Missions Enterprise to manage the pastoral division whose purpose was to allow Christian farmers to give more effectively into Christian ministry. The pastoral division grew under his tireless work. In 1989 it became a separate not for profit company known as Mission Enterprises Limited (MEL). Ken Craig continued as the Director of MEL until 2014 when his son, Rev Paul Craig began to lead MEL as Ministries Director in a volunteer part time basis.

Today, through the investment of our ministry partners, Mission Enterprises Ltd supports local churches and a wide range of mission agencies serving in Australia and overseas. The diverse ministries include church training programs, evangelism, Bible translation, leadership training, child sponsorship, education, health care, life and vocational skills training, church planting, anti-child trafficking, and cross-cultural mission.
